At Noonan Race Engineering we are proud to be able to work with some of the best equipment available in our field, this allows us to perform our work to the highest possible standard.


 
Spintron
Our in-house Spintron is the large 75 hp model capable of spinning engines up to 12,000 RPM. It has many modes of testing, the most useful ones being;
bullet Valve Train Dynamics; Using the laser valve tracking system it is possible to see and measure valve bounce, lofting, spring harmonics & pushrod deflection.
bullet Valve Train Endurance; The Spintron can accept an RPM trace from a data acquisition system and replicate that file or ‘lap’ as many times as required.
bullet Component testing; The Spintron can be used to test the performance of many bolt on components such as oil pumps, power steer pumps, fuel pumps, timing sets, all the while measuring parameters such at oil/fuel flow, pressures, and horsepower drag at varying RPMs.

Superflow NSCR Engine Dynamometer

At NRE we value the testing accuracy and repeatability of the NSCR dyno so much that we have two of them! Both setup to test all types of internal combustion engines.

They are both controlled with Superflow’s X-console system which automatically keeps engine oil and coolant temps at a constant level to increase repeatability between runs. On top of this automated fluid control we have had our own system designed to supply the test engine with air that is temperature, pressure and humidity controlled for unrivaled test accuracy.

Superflow SF-1020 Flowbench

To assist with our intensive port development programs, we employ the use of the SF-1020 flow bench coupled with Performance Trends Port flow analyzer software that is digitally linked to the bench. This allows us to quickly overlay different port types or even the same port after modification and graphically see the difference.

The bench can also be used to flow test intake manifolds, throttle bodies, carburetors, intake velocity stacks etc.

Cam Pro Plus

Cam Pro Plus allows us to reverse engineer camshaft profiles to ensure they are what we expect, and they have been manufactured properly. It also allows us to overlay different cam profiles, analyze lash and rocker changes and study the camshaft properly.

bullet Measures duration, opening, closing, centerline, lobe separation and cam factor.
bullet Camshaft can be measured on test stand or in engine to include effects of the specific valve-train geometry on camshaft specifications.

DTS 1600 Valve spring dynamometer

The DTS 1600 is an automated valve spring testing package that takes care of all aspects of rating and recording a set of springs. The automation ensures repeatable accuracy.

Rottler HP6A Hone

In the engine machining department we use a Rottler HP6A Automatic honing machine to hone all of our engine blocks to our high standard. It utilizes a torque plate to stress the engine block to the same conditions as when it has a cylinder head bolted to it, as well as the optional hot hone system that heats the engine block and honing fluid up to the normal operating temperature of the particular engine being honed.

Newen EPOC Valve seat cutter

Our NEWEN EPOC valve seat cutting machine allows us to create valve seats that were only dreamt of 5 years ago. Gone are the days of ‘3 angle’ valve jobs, the only limit to valve seat angles and complexity is your imagination. It utilizes a single point cutting system that minimizes tool pressures and results in perfect valve seat geometry every time.
