Noonan Racing Engines was originally established in June 2005 by the founding partner, Jamie Noonan. Jamie has a ‘lifetime’ background in Performance Engine Building for all forms of Motorsports including current Ford & Chev (Holden) V8 Supercar engines. In these early times, Jamie was the full time Engine Shop Research and Development Manager with Stone Brothers Racing. Jamie was actively involved in the successful engine program that helped Marcos Ambrose & Russell Ingall to their 2003/4/5 championship wins in the V8Supercar series.
During his time at SBR, Jamie met Andrew Collins. Andrew is a talented CNC machinist with many years of experience running state of the art CNC machine shops. Jamie and Andrew chose to combine their skills to form Noonan Race Engineering (NRE) July 2007. NRE is a specialised engineering firm with its main focus being the manufacture, maintenance and tuning of competition engines for leading Australian motorsport categories including the V8 Supercar series. Shortly after NRE commenced, the firm took over the full responsibility of Paul Morris Motorsports engine program for 2008 & 2009. Much of the engine package developed at PMM over the two year contract is still used today to power the PMM & 888 V8 Supercars.
Late in 2009 NRE signed a contract to supply engines to Brad Jones Racing, a team that Jamie has worked with in the past through SBR. Many late nights/weekends and public holidays later, we had a 2010 specification NRE engine ready for BJR to go racing!
Jamie and Andrews vision for NRE is to become the leading independent engine supplier to the V8 Supercar Series. As NRE is currently supplying Holden race engines to Brad Jones Racing the next logical step is to look to secure supply of similar contract with a level one Ford V8 Supercar team. This would utilize Jamie’s existing knowledge of the Ford engine while incorporating some of the improvements he has found with the Holden engine development since early in 2007.
NRE can supply competitive engines for many of the top motorsport categories including but not limited to Drag Racing, Various Circuit Racing Categories, Speedway, Boat Racing and Rallying.
The team at NRE continually push to develop more power and reliability from the engines they build. The shop is well equipped for Research and Development with Dynos, Flow Bench, Spintron and Camshaft measuring equipment. New ideas are continually tried and tested on this equipment to ensure NRE and its customers are not left behind on the track.
Noonan Race Engineering has a new 600m2 factory complex at Yatala, midway between the GC and Brisbane, adjacent to the M1 and in the heart of the V8 Supercar activity in that area. The purpose designed and built facility is now complete.
